Our artisanal tallow soap is inspired by my great grandmother's soap recipe. We blend the nourishing benefits of tallow with a selection of nourishing oils & butters to deliver a creamy, decadent lather. Infused with essential vitamins and antioxidants, it gently cleanses while soothing and smoothing your skin, leaving it incredibly soft, refreshed, and beautifully revitalized. This pure unscented bar is gentle enough for the most sensitive skin types.

We render our own tallow using suet that is 100% grass fed and grass finished from pasture raised cows from the Ottawa & Gatineau valleys. We render the suet once, using the dry render method and by using the lowest heat possible to render into tallow. This labor-intensive and time-consuming process creates a profound nutrient dense product that is unparalelled for the skin.

Tallow contains high concentrations of vitamins and antioxidants such as vitamins A, D, E and K. Its fatty acid composition closely mimics the natural oils of human skin, providing deep, nourishing moisture without clogging pores.

Owners & creators, Raphaëlle Gagnon & Mark Coelho are a dynamic duo that launched Boreal Folk from the back of their van in 2015. They then moved into a 1967 bus and handcrafted their line of goods in a 99 square foot workshop called the 'Wilderness Lab’. It was an off-grid mobile studio that traveled with them throughout Canada. The product line is inspired by the beautiful boreal forest and their products clearly reflect its unique essence. They live and work on traditional Anishinabeg lands. A small team now handcrafts Boreal Folk products from their farm in the Wakefield, QC region, made from botanicals found on their property and surrounding forests.
